Just moved into my first apartment in Oslo, and the building has fiber through a shared deal I can't change. I've been trying to count channels on Telenor, Altibox, Telia og Allente sine sider, but all I see is 'best' and 'cheapest' marketing. I need daily news, some series, and football. Which leverandør actually delivers the best news coverage and overall TV offer for under 800 kr i måneden?
The best provider depends on what you prioritize, but for news specifically, Telenor is the strongest, while Altibox gives you the most overall value for the price.
If you want live sports and the most channels, it's Telenor or Altibox. But for news coverage, Telenor wins because they include VGTV as an add-on, which gives you live sports highlights and extra news content. Altibox doesn't have VGTV, but their packages are cheaper and include more channels for the kroner. People forget that the core news channels, TV 2 Nyheter, NRK, and Dagsrevyen, are available on every platform, so the real difference is the user interface and whether you get VGTV.
Altibox fits most people on a budget with fiber. Their Minipack at 449 kr is the best value for news and entertainment. Telenor's Total at 699 kr includes more sports, and their interface is solid. Telia is cheaper, around 499 kr for the basic, but you lose VGTV and a few channels. If you only want news, Telia's basic with NRK and TV 2 Nyheter is sufficient.
Allente had some driftsproblemer in 2025, but it's spotty, not systemic. Not a reason to avoid them unless you need reliability for live sports. If you do experience streaming outages during a live event, document it and give the provider a chance to fix it first. After that, you can escalate to Nkom.
Check the channel list for VGTV before you choose. That's the deciding factor for news.

Telia sin grunnpakke starter på 499 kr, Telenor sin på 649 kr. Du mister VGTV og et par kanaler, men nyhetene er like gode. Jeg byttet fra Telenor til Telia i 2024 for å spare, men endte opp med å kjøpe Viaplay separat for sports-høydepunktene. Da forsvant besparelsen.
